WHAT WE COLLECT, AND WHY

Last updated: 30 September 2026

In short

99 Worlds is a free-to-read work of original fiction, supported by advertising. You do not need an account to read anything, and nothing on this site is for sale. We only handle what you type when you choose to ask a Lorekeeper a question. Advertising is provided by Google and may use cookies. Each of these is explained below.

When you read

Reading a world does not require you to give us anything. Like every website, our hosting provider (Google Cloud, Singapore region) keeps basic request logs, such as IP address, browser type and time of access, for security and to keep the site running. We do not use those logs to profile you and we do not sell them.

Your browser stores your language choice (English or Chinese) locally so the site remembers it next time. That setting stays on your device and is not sent to us.

When you ask a Lorekeeper

Each world has a Lorekeeper who answers questions about it. When you ask one, your question is sent together with that world's public dossier to our AI provider (currently OpenAI, with Google as a fallback if OpenAI is unavailable), solely to produce that answer. We do not keep the text of your questions or of the answers.

To bound compute costs and prevent abuse, free questions have a daily allowance. We count it in two ways: a counter keyed to your IP address and the date, and, if you have given us an email address, a counter keyed to that email and the date. These counters store a number, not what you asked.

If you give us your email

Giving us an email address is optional. If you do, it is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, used for the question allowance above, and, if you choose to join the list, used to send you updates. The list is shared across DAOx LTD's own products, so you are not asked separately by each tool. It is never sold and never shared outside DAOx LTD. Every email has an unsubscribe link, unsubscribing takes effect immediately, and it removes you from every one of those lists.
